Hi, I am currently caretaking 30 acres deep in the Siskiou Mountains, outside of Ashland. The folks that own the land I am currently on are planning on selling, so I am looking for my next opportunity. I have been a caretaker for 15 of the last 25 years and have impeccable references for my work with estates large and small. I was a facility manager for a kid's summer camp in the San Juan Islands for 4 years. I was responsible for a 25,000 square foot waterfront estate for over 3 years. I maintained a large ranch on California's Lost Coast for 2 years as well as the small ranch I am currently caretaking in the Siskious, where I have been for nearly 6 years. I have basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, tile, masonry, painting and other handy-man skills. I have a lot of experience with organic gardening as well as conventional gardening both in food crops and ornamental landscaping. I have over 20 years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil, commercial and residential projects. I am currently a licensed, bonded and insured general contractor in the state of Oregon www dot OreCanConstruction dot com I have worked with horses, cows, and dogs and have a way with animals. I am a mature male, no physical or mental limitations. I do not smoke, rarely drink and don't partake in illicit drugs. I am a bit of a loner, very choosey about who I spend my time with and more choosey about whom I let into my home. My past employers have appreciated my "guard dog" attitude towards outsiders when it comes to my safe place. I have a degree in accounting, I am quite computer literate and I can communicate clearly and always in a timely manner. I had a good education and a pretty good childhood in Monterey, CA and have lived in some of the most beautiful places in the USA. I plan on keeping with that tradition with this next move. I am seeking a beautiful, remote space for my next venture. My dream would be to find another second home in need of a good handy-man and all around caretaker. My favorite position involved free rent for a set amount of duties and then we worked out a "bid" system for upgrades and improvements to the land. Along with being the eyes and ears of the property, doing storm clean up and meeting with vendors, we came up with projects like building a garden, clearing some land and creating a sunny lawn, paths and planters and rock walls as well as multiple paths and rock walls throughout the property. Does it show that I really like these kinds of projects? I'd love to find an estate that wants to improve over the next five years. Someone with a vision and the budget to carry it out. I was a facility manager for a kid's summer camp on an island in the San Juan Islands in Washington. I was not only responsible for maintenance and repairs for 27 buildings on 47 waterfront acres, I was also the face of camp and the go to guy for complaints, clogged toilets and emergencies. I was also responsible for the way camp looked. Checking in and out user groups to make sure they understood the rules of the land, cleaned up after themselves and that those things were fixed before the next user group. I helped enlist local fraternal organizations to adopt each building to rehabilitate and maintain, and got to see the camp go from a run-down place to a camp to be proud of during my tenure. I have also found joy in positions like my current position. They needed someone to live here. They offer no budget, nor oversight. Their only request was that I clean up the land (which was horrible from a decade of dumping and neglect), and that I spray no chemicals. I hauled off over 200 loads of trash and have had countless burnpiles. What was once a dumping ground is now about 75% wilderness that I have rehabilitated and 25% pasture land and garden areas which I have developed and nurtured over the last 6 years. Looking around I feel a great sense of pride in what I have done here. I have loved my time here, even to the point of dreaming of buying this land as they sell, but sadly, that is not an option for me now. I have a whole farm worth of things that I can either liquidate, or bring with to help your farm grow. I prefer a real house, cabin, yurt, or apartment. I am not into living in a camper, unless the situation is prime. i.e. I sure won't say no to a camper on the big sur coast.. Don't want a camper in Montana.. Thank you for your time. I'd love to talk about what I can do for you and your estate.
Hello, I am looking for a place to move into on or around February 1st. I have been renting an AirBnb since I moved to Bellingham a few months ago and love it, but am hoping to find something a bit more affordable. I'm in my thirties, employed, and I don't smoke or do drugs. I am a very quiet person and almost never have people over. My family does live out of state so 1-2 times a year I might have a relative visit for a couple days but that's it. Otherwise, I'm either at work, home reading, or out hiking. I'm hoping to find something for $800 or less a month - and that's including the cost of utilities. I've seen a lot of nice places listed, but the problem I'm having is that none of them allow pets. I do have one cat. She is well-behaved and strictly indoors - so won't bother the neighbors. I can provided references that she's non-destructive if needed. I don't need a lot of space or anything fancy, just somewhere quiet and clean. If you think you might have a place please respond with the following (so I know you're an actual person and not a bot): monthly rent, deposits required, the general area it's located, and what utilities are included. Thanks!
We are currently living in a month to month rental and have been looking to buy a home on acreage. We haven't had a lot of luck, since the market is still pretty hot and our price range is in the popular price range. We would like the opportunity to start a little farm soon, so would be happy with renting a little farm or lease to own situation. Whatever the situation, we just want something long term in a private quiet place with a barn or outbuilding that can be used as a barn, where we can have a dog and some farm animals. We might even consider land with power/water/septic with potential to put a tiny home or park model home on and expand from there. We have always been excellent tenants and have great landlord references. We take pride in any home we live in. We just want a place to live long term or with the potential to purchase if it would interest you in the future. A place where we can grow gardens and plant trees. We would not need a big house if there was a garage or outbuilding & barn. The areas we would be interested in are Whatcom County, Bow, Alger, possibly East County, but not too far Northeast County, because my husband works in Bow. If you have what might become our little dream farm, please contact us, we would love to hear from you! We have a realtor, so please no contact from realtors.
