As someone who has both rented and owned in the Lynchburg market, and is now a realtor in the area, this question has come up quite a bit recently. "Should I Rent or Buy in Lynchburg 2022?"
While renting can seem more convenient in this market - if you're in a position to buy now, I believe buying is better and here's why:
- Locking in a good interest rate before they rise in the coming months
- A mortgage payment will be LESS than what you pay for rent (lender to run specific numbers but will most likely be the case)
- Your money is being put to better use for home ownership, not "throwing it away" for rent
- Great investment market - With 3 colleges in the Lynchburg area, buying and owning gives for the chance to turn into a rental down the road!
