Job Summary:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy duty vehicles.
2. Troubleshoots various systems, to include electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension, identifies needed repairs and performs corrective action.
3. Writes up on the repair order an accurate, clear, and detailed description of the cause of failure and the repair procedure(s) used.
4. List parts used in repair.
Primary Duties
• Reads written fault description on Repair Order and determines the most efficient repair procedure.
• Obtains supervisor permission to complete diagnosed repairs and/or add additional repairs to a repair.
• Communicates with supervisor to obtain or order the parts necessary to repair vehicles.
• Tracks hours to the proper corresponding Repair Order operation.
• Writes up clear, accurate, and detailed repair description of each operation on the corresponding Repair Order, to include a description of the cause of failure and the correction and/or repair procedure used.
• Assist other technicians with repair procedures as needed.
Education, Experience and Requirements:
• Formal technical training degree, certificate or diploma or equivalent work experience. May consider entry level based on work history & tooling.
• Personal tool inventory to allow for the completion of job duties and assignments.
• Possession of a valid and current license and Class “A/B” CDL is beneficial.
• Must pass all pre-employment screening.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to enter and exit the vehicle with a cab height averages 36-60 inches above ground level and entry and exit are achieve with the assistance of various configurations of steps and handholds
• Ability to satisfactory pass a controlled substance/alcohol test(s) when the testing applies to the job position. Ability to satisfactory pass a controlled substance test(s) for all workmen’s compensation claims.
• Ability to interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics and various other technical bulletins.
• Ability to use computer keyboard and Window basics.
• Ability to read and write in the English language.
• Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to outside weather elements.
• Ability to work 8 – 10 hours per day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to100 pounds.
